Call Your Tailor – Suits Has a Premiere Date

USA network’s Suits finally has a premiere date for it’s second season this summer.  You better schedule your time (or DVRs) for Thursday June 14th at 10:00pm.  The show was a breakout hit last summer for the network.  It stars Gabriel Macht and Patrick J. Adams as Harvey  Specter and Mike Ross, respectively, as lawyers at a big New York City law firm.  Harvey is the best closer in all of the city and Mike is his protege (sort of).  Here’s the catch, Mike isn’t a lawyer at all.  He was on the run from a drug deal gone bad and is only pretending to be a lawyer.  Turns out he has a photographic memory and is super smart. He even knew about law because he was helping people cheat on the LSATs.  So they became this buddy lawyer team solving every week’s problem.

The rest of the characters finalize a great ensemble.  You have the pretty paralegal who likes Mike.  You have the jerky law firm partner who is just kind of a sleaze-ball (although you at times feel bad for him).  There’s also the strong willed, get anything done woman head of the firm.  It all works together.  And then there are the suits (the show’s namesake).  Harvey loves his suits and is always very well dressed.  You best be dressed well around Harvey too.  He certainly brought back the three piece suit look.

I think the show is great.  I actually didn’t watch at first and I started at my mother’s urging (yes mom, I listen to you).  It’s just feel good.  I love the way they put everything together in self contained episodes and the problem always gets solved.  The writing and acting is good, the characters are witty and deep enough and I’ve never had any ugh moments.  The one continuing plot point is Mike’s deception.  Harvey is complicit in it and people are starting to get close to his secret.  Just as last season ended Mike’s former best friend started to make trouble for him and try to join the firm.

So I’m excited to see where season two goes.  About six weeks to go until we suit up.
