Viggle – The TV App You Should Check Out – No You Should Get It

If you love TV like I do you’re going to want to download Viggle for your iPhone.  It’s the TV app that gives back.  The concept is very simple.  Check into a TV show and get rewarded.  You open the app on your phone and click a check in button, then the phone samples about 15 seconds of the LIVE show and voila, it recognizes it (like Shazam) and asks you to check in.  You earn points based on how long you were watching the show (what time you checked in).  When you have enough points you can redeem it for great rewards from retailers like Starbucks, Best Buy or Target.

Some shows are featured and have special check in bonuses. For example, checking into the Grammy’s would have earned you 500 extra points.  Plus you can earn more points by tapping on special offers.  Redemption starts as low as 5,000 points and the highest reward right now is an Amazon Kindle for 175,000 points.

The app offers more than just checking in and rewards.  It’ll remind you when your favorite shows on, it offers easy ways to get show information and allows you to be social about what you’re watching on TV.

The app experience has been pretty good.  Not every network supports audio check in but there is a manual back up.  I’ve had a couple problems with check in but I think it’s actually my iPhone and not the app’s fault.  It looks good. They picked a good color scheme and the app is intuitive.

I totally love it so far.  I’m at about 5,000 points and counting and I’m looking forward to being rewarded for what I like to do best.  You can find it on the iTunes App Store.  I can’t seem to find whether this will be available on Android but my guess is that if it isn’t available now it’ll be available soon.  If I were the authors I’d want as much exposure on this great app as possible.
