Some People DON’T Want You to Watch Game of Thrones, I DO Though
I’ve written a couple Game of Thrones posts in the past, this one might be the strangest thus far. I came across this post on christwire.com titled “12 Reasons to Boycott “Game of Thrones” in 2012.” I say you shouldn’t as Game of Thrones is one of the best dramas out there right now. Peter Dinklage won a Golden Globe for playing Tyrion Lannister. It’s first season was spectacular and certainly did the books justice and season two is shaping up to look great. Season two will be premiering in March on HBO – you can see a trailer at the end of the post.
As I read the post I thought it was pretty ridiculous and in fact you could probably use them as 12 reasons to watch Game of Thrones. Yes, this is a very conservative website and they are certainly entitled to their opinion but I’m going to share with you some of the most ridiculous lines and how I feel about them.
“In essence, Game of Thrones is a poorly produced copy of Mel Gibson’s Braveheart with a dash of smut straight out of Hustler Magazine added to spice up the frustratingly complicated drama.”
Please, please, please never compare GoT to Mel Gibson that is just plain offensive. I even think Mel would be offended by this.
”4. Emilia Clarke is such an untalented actress that her only role in the show is to be eye candy for pedophiles.”
I didn’t know HBO was in the market of pedophilia. Yes, the character is a teenager but they cast an actress that is certainly of age. Also the author has clearly never read the books as her character, Danaerys, becomes such a strong woman that she would make any man scared.
“10. The show is incredibly difficult for adults to understand.”
Really? I’m not sure kids can come close to understanding the multi-layered, complex, well thought out story that is the show. He goes on to further say that since adults can’t understand the show targets kids. I just don’t think so.
” 12. The moody, dark cinematography will make teens depressed. … In darkness they find convenient cover to master their addiction to drugs and sexual violence. Does Games of Thrones actively promote marijuana usage and rape?”
I don’t even have words to put against this one. I guess if everything was bright and airy there wouldn’t be pot smoker and rapists?
There are more nuggets in the source article. After you read them and before season two premieres in the March / April time frame enjoy the trailer for season two below.Tags: game of thrones, HBO
