You’re Welcome Facebook
Changes are coming to Facebook (again). First it’s going to be timeline (which is actually pretty cool). Next we may start seeing sponsored stories in our news feeds. Don’t get me wrong, change is good. Companies need to evolve in order to remain relevant and this is even more important for social media companies such as Facebook.
You may have noticed when you logged in the past couple days that there is a link to a note explaining how Facebook makes money. There’s a video on there for you to watch. Even without clicking on the link you probably already knew that the reason was you, one of it’s hundreds of millions of users. So Facebook I give you a nice big your welcome on behalf of everyone. Our incessant click throughs and hours we spend on the site daily make you all your money. Now you’re able to hire engineers / developers and make these changes. I’m actually glad you’re so outspoken about this because this is the reason you can keep the world’s most popular network free for all it’s users and now those users (who didn’t already) will understand.
I’ll even say thank you for putting our social experiences online. You allow us to maintain relationships that we would never have been able to do in the past. We interact on a level we’ve never done before. So keep doing what you’re doing and do it great. Remember that your users are the ones that make you money. Keep that in mind as you roll out new changes to make Facebook the best that it can be.Tags: facebook
